Terms of Use

Conveyancing and Hips ("C-HIPs") provides residential conveyancing referrals from consumers to its panel of conveyancing solicitors based in England & Wales. C-HIPs also prepares Home Information Packs for properties on sale after 1st August 2007. Our FAQ's and Notices should be read in conjunction with and form part of these terms of use. C-HIPs does not itself provide legal advice. The contents of this website are for general information only. You should consult a solicitor for advice and services regarding specific legal matters.

Who are Conveyancing and Hips (C-HIPs)?

Conveyancing and Hips (C-HIPs) are a referral company enabling our customers to obtain domestic Conveyancing services from Solicitors & Conveyancers in England & Wales and other services that we may choose to offer from time to time. Please note that, due to the differences in the current legal system, we do not deal with Conveyancing in Scotland

Solicitors Panel

If you wish to proceed with a Quote for Conveyancing or a Home Information Pack provided by C-HIPs; we will proceed to appoint a solicitors or conveyancing firm on your behalf for the conveyancing.

The solicitors firm appointed will be regulated by the Law Society of England & Wales whilst the Conveyancing firm will be regulated by the Council of Licenced Conveyancers; will hold professional indemnity insurance to a minimum of one million pounds and will, in our reasonable opinion only, be able to transact residential conveyancing matters in England & Wales.

Save for the above reasonable checks we accept no loss, blame or responsibility for any work carried out by the appointed solicitor or conveyancer. As an introduction only service once you are referred to one of our panel solicitors conveyancers, you will be subject to their standard terms of retainer.

You must ensure you read these carefully and fully understand them. The Law Society of England & Wales regulate all solicitors and the Council of Licenced Conveyancers regulate Conveyancers and both bodies offer information and protection in case of disatisfaction with any particular solicitor or conveyancer.  We comply with the Solicitors Introduction and Referral Code as published by the Law Society. 

Any solicitor or conveyancer we refer you to is an independant professional who will provide impartial and confidential advice.  You are free to choose another solicitor or conveyancer under their own terms and conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to prepare a Home Information Pack?

Because the Energy rating has to be carried out at the clients home we cannot guarantee a turnaround time as clients may delay access for one reason or another.  However we have all the resources ready in place to organise the searches and other compulsory elements within 7-10 working days.  Please note, however, that the HIP cannot be released until payment for the HIP has been received.

Are the prices fixed?

We pride ourselves on our no hidden fees policy. The prices quoted include all compulsory elements of a Home Information Pack and also include VAT.  If the property is Leasehold and the freeholder charges to release any compulsory element of the HIP then that fee will be passed on to the client.

Will the customer be informed at key stages of the HIP process?

We will email customers at key stages of the process, e.g at order, when searches & Energy Performance assesments are ordered and when they have been produced.  There is then a final email sent when the Home information Pack is ready for download.  The client can request that we call at these key stages if they prefer.

What formats are the HIPS supplied?

Home information packs will be Downloadble PDFs from the website.  Clients are emailed a link to their HIP, which they can print, save or email on.  We can also provide email copies and at an extra charge of £12 can also provide a hard printed copy.

Refund policy

If a client cancels their order after payment has been recieved, C-HIPS will not be able to refund any amounts that have already been spent on providing the compulsory elements of the Home Information Pack.  However if the client cancels their order before the searches and EPC's have been the requested, C-HIPS will refund the full amount less a 15% admin fee.
